Bought this as a way to ease back into exercising. I think it is good for a beginner but you really have to work at it to work up a sweat. It's a good piece of equipment to get the heart pumping though. After a few days of using it, it started to make a squeaking noise but a few drops of 3-in-1 oil took care of it.
