Just less than a year ago I started using the Edge 3 to 5 times a week anywhere between 20 to 40 minutes per day. I found it easily got my heart rate up to a great workout level. I credit use of this machine and a slight improvement in eating habits with helping me to drop 40 lbs.
I had two problems with the Edge model.
The first happened because I sweated so much on the readout unit that it would not work. Unfortunately, as the unit was almost 2 years old the warranty period had expired. I found that the readout information such a motivating factor that I ordered a replacement from Fitness Quest and wrapped the new unit in plastic wrap. No more readout failure.
The next happened just a couple of weeks ago when one of the swing arms broke a couple of inches above where the foot peddle joins the swing arm. This did result in a nasty spill and a twisted ankle. A replacement part was available through Fitness Quest but no promise that it would not break again. This unit is rated for people up to 250 lbs. and I was well under this at 195.
I really enjoyed my fitness and weight loss successes so I opted to replace this unit with the Gazelle Crosstrainer Pro model rated for 300 lbs. This model is much heavier constructed and still offers the collapsable storage that the Edge had. So far no problems and just 20 more lbs to go.Get more detail about Gazelle Edge.
